About Us
Proprietor Steve Lucas has been a cattle rancher in Paradise Valley, NV for over 40 years. In addition to leasing and managing the former Stonehouse Country Inn (now privately owned and closed to the public), Steve has owned and operated multiple ranches in the beautiful sprawling valley that sits at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. He also owns and operates the Lucas Livestock Sandhill Feed Lot.

The Adobe House, where Lucas High Desert Lodging first began.
The Adobe was originally built in 1886, and housed the towns' Blacksmith. Lucas purchased the Adobe in 1985. And, the Adobe 1 was the first to be renovated, in 1986. In the beginning, the space was used as a base of operations for Lucas' ranching operations. But, soon he realized the need and opportunity to provide lodging for travelers and hunters seeking to visit the area.

The Adobe 2 was refurbished in 2009. The proprietor believes in maintaining the original integrity of every structure and space he restores. Materials are locally sourced whenever possible. And, all of the decor/finishings are hand-chosen to provide that cozy country feel.

The Ranchita (Ranch House), a perfect family vacation home.

While staying at the Ranch House, you'll be residing on a real working cattle ranch. In addition to vast grazing lands, you'll see stables, horses, chickens, cows, goats, and hard working ranch-hands. Please do not misinterpret, we're not offering a "City Slickers" experience - sorry! But you are welcome to observe, ask questions and enjoy this gorgeous country home and it's serene surroundings. You're also welcome to bring and board your own horses to enjoy the vast surroundings on horseback.
